Chancellor Middle School student arrested for bringing loaded gun to school

The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office says a student at Chancellor Middle has been arrested after it was discovered the student brought a loaded gun to school.

Major Troy Skebo tells us Friday morning, the School Resource Officer was notified by Chancellor Middle School administration of a student who may be in possession of a gun. A student reported to a teacher seeing another student with the gun in a backpack.. Skebo says at no time was the gun showed in a way to threaten students, faculty, or staff, or threaten the safety of the school.

Skebo says the teacher immediately notified administration and a joint investigation resulted in finding a loaded .45 caliber handgun in the student’s backpack. He says the student is currently in custody and will face charges at the conclusion of the investigation.

Skebo praised the joint efforts of the student, teacher, school administration and school resource officer.
