Governor Youngkin and other state and federal officials were in town on Wednesday for a ribbon cutting on I-95 in Stafford to celebrate the opening of the ten mile “FredEx” Express Lanes extension between Garrisonville Road and Route 17. The rest of the project is expected to open later this year providing access to Marine Corps Base Quantico, direct access to Courthouse Road and entry to Epress Lanes from I-95 north local lanes. Transportation officials say the new toll lanes will save travelers as much as 35 minutes on a trip from DC to Fredericksburg.
The southborund lanes are expected to open at 10pm tonight. The northbound lanes will be ready tomorrow morning.
