From the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank:

We are deeply grateful to the many host venues, hard-working staff, and dedicated volunteers who have made it possible for us to provide more than 147,000 free summer meals to youth 18 and under thus far. With school beginning again, 13 of our 14 sites have ended, but on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, we will continue to serve a sit-down meal for youth at the Spotsylvania Farmers Market (12150 Gordon Road, Fredericksburg) through September 30.
That extraordinary number of meals provided is more than double our previous record of summer meals across our community, pointing to increasing efficiency and capacity, but also sadly, pointing to high levels of need within our community that are hard to meet. We have provided meals to almost 15,000 youth during the 10-week cycle of the summer.
We especially thank the Central Rappahannock Regional Library system, Walmart in Locust Grove, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, VA, and Caroline’s Promise for being great partners to make this year’s extraordinary outcomes possible!
