VDOT says intersection improvements have been completed at Route 206 (Dahlgren Road) and Route 218 (Caledon Road) in King George County.
Crews built a 400-foot-long dedicated right turn lane from westbound Route 206 to westbound Route 218. They also added an additional signal head for the new turn lane. The $1.2 million dollar project’s goal was to alleviate congestion and reduce the risk of crashes at the existing signalized intersection.
Through traffic on westbound Route 206 continues to share a travel lane with westbound vehicles turning left onto Route 655 (St. Paul’s Road).
According to a recent VDOT traffic count, approximately 13,000 vehicles a day travel through the intersection.
