We had beautiful weather and a great day for an Open House to invite the public into our newer facility at 480 Central Road to show off the facility and engage people with our activities.
We are grateful for the many vendors and community partners who joined us today and are proud of the great work done by volunteers who worked while the public watched them in service to learn about ways to get involved.
Between a group of youth volunteers who packed over 500 boxes for our senior food box program and nearly another 300 boxes for general distribution, as well as the 269 boxes packed by McLane Mid-Atlantic employees in 40 minutes while competing to see which team of their staff members could pack the most boxes in 20 minutes, we packed up lots of food for community distribution.
Our warehouse and driving crew showed off their forklift skills through competitions that included such events as obstacle courses and basketball dunking! We congratulate Amos Adams on winning the championship belt!
Young people got to show off their talents in the Kids Zone by decorating boxes with colors and messages that will brighten the day for those who receive them.
All in all, a great day to highlight what we do in the community and to invite the entire community in for a visit! Thanks for all your support!
