From Stafford County:

Stafford County mourns the passing of former County Board of Supervisors member Elmer Cassius “Bill” Williams. Williams served as the Aquia District representative on the Board of Supervisors from 1990 to 1993. He was elected Vice Chairman by his fellow Board members in 1992 and 1993. He also served for 18 years on the Stafford County Planning Commission. Williams’ family has a long history in Stafford County, starting in 1859, and a long history of local government service.

“On behalf of the Board and the citizens of Stafford County, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of Elmer “Bill” Williams,” said Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Meg Bohmke, Falmouth District. “Mr. Williams embodied service to the public. He had deep roots in the community and always cared about what the residents wanted.”

Williams prided himself on making sure the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors’ work was transparent to the public. He also wanted to make sure the public’s voices were considered.
