Stafford County crime report

The following crimes were reported to the Stafford Sheriff’s Office from March 8-14.
  • ASSAULT Edward E. Drew Middle School, 501 Cambridge Street, 3/7, 12 p.m. Deputy M.A. Floirendo was conducting her SRO duties when she took notice of a large group gathering. As she approached, one juvenile began assaulting another. Floirendo physically separated both females and deescalated the situation. A criminal complaint for assault and battery for the predominant aggressor was filed. Navy Federal Credit Union, 308 Worth Avenue, 3/8, 9:57 p.m. Deputy R.W. Stamm responded to an assault. The victim advised while at the ATM she was inappropriately touched by a stranger. When the suspect was informed the Sheriff’s Office would be called, he fled into Outback Steakhouse. Deputies located the suspect in an intoxicated state. He was charged with assault and battery and public intoxication. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until soberCorporate Drive, 3/12, 6:29 p.m. Deputy J.J. Holetzky responded to an assault. Two security guards got into a heated argument over a cellphone. The argument escalated when one grabbed the other and threatened him. The suspect was charged with assault and was released by the magistrate on personal recognizance. 
  • DRUGS Red Roof Inn, 153 Garrisonville Road, 3/7, 6:35 a.m. Deputy C.D. Sullivan responded to a groaning guest. The caller advised they could hear a female making loud groans and screams all night. Sullivan contacted the suspect who said she just got out of prison but didn’t remember anything after that. She was found to have suspected controlled substances and prescribed medication that did not belong to her. She was charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Rappahannock Regional Jail, 1745 Richmond Highway, 3/12, 8:07 a.m. Detectives responded to a drug report. Staff advised they located a baggy filled with an unknown substance in a laundry bin. The substance was seized. 
  • DISTURBANCE Mountain View Road, 3/8, 1:42 p.m. Deputy B.W. Gildea responded to a call regarding a shooting at a moving vehicle. The victims advised they were traveling down the road when a reckless driver began to pass them using the oncoming lane. As it did, a passenger produced a shooting device and shot the victim’s vehicle, causing damages. The investigation is ongoing. McDonald’s, 545 Ferry Road, 3/13, 4:26 p.m. Deputy D.S. Jett responded to a disturbance. The caller advised she and a known party got into a verbal argument when the suspect brandished a firearm. Deputies located the suspect and he was detained without incident. Charges are pending.
  • DUI Intersection of Warrenton Road and Cardinal Forest Drive, 3/7, 10:32 p.m. Deputy K.F. Bierfeldt responded to a drunk driver complaint. The caller advised a vehicle was driving all over the road and nearly struck a median. Bierfeldt discovered the vehicle swerving and traveling in two lanes of traffic. Bierfeldt conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who had immediately noticeable signs of intoxication. While the driver denied consuming any alcohol, the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and half-consumed bottle of alcohol next to him would prove otherwise. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, drinking while driving, reckless driving, and refusal. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Morton Road, 3/8, 4:50 p.m. Deputy D.S. Jett responded to a single vehicle auto accident. The caller advised a vehicle was on its side and the driver was entrapped. Fire and Rescue was able to safely remove the driver. It was discovered the vehicle veered off the road, struck an embankment, and turned on its side. The driver was unaware her vehicle was flipped, stating “there was no incident” and she simply “pulled over.” She had signs of intoxication. Marijuana, Narcan, and many prescription bottles were in the vehicle. Driving under the influence charges are currently pending depending on the results of her blood test. Popeyes, 735 Warrenton Road, 3/9, 7:26 p.m. Deputy N.J. Amato responded to an auto accident. The suspect’s vehicle drifted into the victim’s lane and struck their vehicle. The driver of vehicle one had signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking about two beers before driving. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, two counts of reckless driving, and refusal. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Cavalier Skating Rink, 1920 Richmond Highway, 3/9, 10:58 p.m. Deputy P.J. Leon responded to a traffic offense. Staff advised a male parked in a handicapped spot and was refusing to move from it. Deputy Leon contacted the suspect who had several signs of intoxication, including dilated pupils. He was charged with driving under the influence and refusal. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Battery Point Drive, 3/10, 12:14 a.m. First Sergeant D.F. Purcell responded to a disturbance. The caller advised people were outside trying to kidnap him. When First Sergeant Purcell arrived, he discovered that was not the case. It was discovered the caller drove to that location in an intoxicated state and the people trying to “kidnap” him were friends within the vehicle. One of the occupants in the vehicle was discovered to be wanted out of Stafford for contempt of court. She was also found to have suspected controlled substances. Drug Recognition Expert Deputy D.S. Jett was requested to conduct field sobriety tests. The caller tried to flee from the sobriety tests but ran into the closed front door. He was charged with driving under the influence and obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond. The female occupant was served on her outstanding warrant and was held on a $1,500 secured bond. Charges for possession of controlled substances are pending.  Woodstream Boulevard, 3/14, 1:40 a.m. Deputy J.W. Ahern and Deputy B.E. Vaughn responded to a suspicious person call. The caller advised an unknown party was attempting to enter a residence they did not belong to. When deputies arrived, they found the 20-year-old intoxicated suspect trying to enter a Honda, despite him having Ford car keys. The suspect admitted to driving and, after locating his vehicle, deputies observed an empty bottle of Fireball in plain view. He was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,5000 secured bond.  
  • FRAUD America’s Best Value Inn, 605 Warrenton Road, 3/7, 4:56 a.m. Deputy K.P. Hall responded to a rather unusual scam. A staff member requested a tenant to watch the front desk for he was not feeling well. During this time, the tenant received a call from someone posing as the business owner. The fake owner advised he needed money sent to him and the best way to do so would be to have the tenant break into the safe and take cash. While the safe was broken into, luckily, the scam was stopped before the suspect could get the money. Huff Drive, 3/12, 4:18 p.m. Deputies responded to a fraud report. The victim advised she was contacted by someone pretending to be with Exotic Travelers. The suspect advised if the victim paid a current debt they would give her a free vacation. When she did not receive a free trip, she contacted the real Exotic Travelers who informed her it was a scam. 
  • LARCENY Walmart, 217 Garrisonville Road, 3/7, 2:00 p.m. First Sergeant J.J. Kreider and Deputy A.M. Pitts responded to a larceny. Staff advised they were watching two female suspects skip scanning items. Deputies contacted them as they passed all sale points with two carts full of items. Over $400 worth of items were recovered and both suspects walked out with a summons for shoplifting. Howell Library, 806 Lyons Boulevard, 3/8, 12:49 p.m. Deputy D.J. Taylor responded to a larceny. The victim advised she left her phone in the library. When she returned to reclaim it, it was nowhere to be found. Duff Park, 75 James Ashby Parkway, 3/10, 2:54 p.m. Deputy D.S. Jett responded to a larceny. The victim advised her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle. She would later receive notification from her bank that her credit cards were fraudulently used at Walmart. ABC, 43 Town and Country Drive, 3/10, 4:02 p.m. Deputy D.S. Jett responded to another larceny. Staff advised a male suspect stole two bottles of Don Julio Tequila. Embrey Mill Soccer Fields, 1600 Mine Road, 3/10, 6:57 p.m. Deputy S.A. Edwards responded to a larceny. The victim advised her purse was stolen from her vehicle. Just like the first larceny report, she would also receive notification from her bank that her credit cards were fraudulently used at Walmart. Potomac Crest Circle, 3/11, 6:33 a.m. Deputy C.M. Ramirez responded to a larceny. The caller advised they observed an unoccupied vehicle that looked rummaged through. Ramirez was able to contact the owner who advised his vehicle was unlocked. Multiple shoes and a firearm were stolen. Later, Ramirez received video of four males in a gray sedan stealing the items. Wawa, 9 South Gateway Drive, 3/12, 12:11 a.m. Deputy E.T. Osborn responded to a larceny. Staff advised two suspects rushed the counter and stuffed approximately $765 worth of cigarettes in a trash bag. Both suspects then fled in an older light blue sedan. Stafford County Landfill, 489 Eskimo Hill Road, 3/14, 1:45 p.m. Deputy S.A. Russo responded to a larceny. The victim advised his boat that was stored at this location was stolen. Using cameras, Russo discovered the suspect who stole the boat was a male driving a red pick-up truck. Dollar Tree, 1100 Stafford Market Place, 3/14, 6:53 p.m. First Sergeant A.I. Assur responded to a larceny. Staff advised they observed a male consume a drink and put the empty bottle back on the shelf.  Assur contacted the suspect who confirmed he had no intention of paying for the drink. He was issued a summons for shoplifting.  
  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION Lee Coaches Bus Company, 1015 Thomas Lane, 3/8, 8:27 p.m. First Sergeant A.I. Assur and Deputy L.T. Ward responded to an intoxicated person call. The caller advised a mechanic was drunk. When deputies arrived, the suspect not only had signs of intoxication, but a beer in his hand. The suspect was transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail where he was charged with public intoxication and held until sober. Red Roof Inn, 153 Garrisonville Road, 3/13, 8:12 p.m. Deputies responded to a fight in progress. It was advised two females were fighting in the parking lot. Deputies contacted both parties and found neither wanted to press charges due to them being friends. They were also discovered to be heavily intoxicated. Both were charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. 
  • TRAFFIC OFFENSE Sheetz, 15 Wyche Road, 3/11, 2:40 p.m. Deputy S.C. Martin observed a vehicle with a year-old inspection sticker and conducted a traffic stop. Martin would further discover the registration was also expired and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. When Martin requested the driver’s license and registration, the driver stated “nah.” After a few attempts to have the driver comply, even citing Virginia Code 46.2-104, Martin informed the driver he could be arrested. Once in handcuffs, the driver requested to be let go with a few tickets. The driver was charged with refusal to provide license and registration, having expired registration, having expired inspection, no proof of insurance, and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond and his vehicle was towed. 
  • WARRANT SERVED Silver Collection at Celebrate Apartments, Setter Circle, 3/12, 5:30 p.m. First Sergeant J.J. Kreider and Deputy J.A. Brooks responded to a welfare check. The caller advised a resident was throwing items off his balcony. While attempting to check the welfare of the noncompliant subject, deputies discovered he was wanted out of Stafford County for a recent indecent exposure and obstruction of justice incident. He was arrested and suspected controlled substances were discovered on his person. He was charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances, as well as served on his outstanding warrant. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond. Quantico Marine Corps Base, 3/13, 3:39 p.m. Deputy B.E. Vaughn responded to a wanted subject being located. Military Police advised they had someone in their custody wanted out of Stafford County for assault and battery. Vaughn took custody of the suspect and served him his outstanding warrant. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Wawa, 860 Richmond Highway, 3/14, 12:35 a.m. Deputy A.J. Charoenthep was on his way home when he received information of a wanted suspect being within the business. Charoenthep identified the suspect as he waited for food due to his distinct tattoos and attempted to detain him. The suspect resisted, then, with the help of an off-duty Fredericksburg Police Officer, he was detained. He was served on his outstanding warrants and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
