Orange County Sheriff’s Office keeping a watch on speeding

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says in a Facebook posting:
We have received numerous complaints about speeding and aggressive driving on the highways in OC. Please tell your family and your friends to slow down, because lives are at stake. We are out in full force making traffic stops and issuing summonses for violations. There is not a single roadway in Orange County where the posted speed limit is above 55 mph.

As a reminder, you cannot exceed the speed limit even when passing someone. Speeding is not only a costly fine of $61 court cost and $6 per mile for every mile over the posted speed, but also a 4 point violation on your driving record. A reckless driving summons or even a speeding summons 20 mph over the posted speed limit is a 6 point violation on your driving record. Reckless driving is also a Class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in jail and/or a $2,500 fine….not to mention what this will do to your insurance.
We will not apologize for issuing a summons to save lives. Please do your part, plan ahead, leave a little earlier, and slow down. Speeding can have deadly consequences. Stay safe OC!
