Early morning fatal fire in Spotsylvania

by | Apr 30, 2024 | Police and Fire, Spotsylvania, Ted Schubel

Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management says Tuesday morning, just before 4:30am, crews were dispatched to a home in the 10200-block of Duerson Road that was reported to be “half engulfed” in fire. Upon arrival, the crew from Engine 3 found a single-wide mobile home well involved in fire. Noticing a vehicle in the driveway and reports from neighbors, it was determined that an occupant was likely still inside the home, so crews initiated an aggressive interior search for the occupant while simultaneously attacking the fire.
Fire officials say 52-year Alice Carter was located but had already succumbed to the fire and smoke. Spotsylvania Fire Marshals are actively working to determine the cause of the fire.
