Missed jury duty scam reported in King George

by | May 10, 2024 | Police and Fire, Ted Schubel

The King George Sheriff’s Office says there’s a scam taking place in the county.   Victims are being contacted by a subject claiming to be a member of King George Sheriff’s Office.  The caller asks the potential victim to provide money due to missing jury duty.

The scammers often threaten arrest and may be spoofing the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line, (540) 775-2049, to make the call seem legit.

The King George Sheriff’s Office says they will never contact members of the public to collect money due to missing jury duty. If you receive a suspicious call, they say hang-up and contact the Sheriff’s Office to confirm.
