Former Spotsylvania private school teacher facing child sex crime allegations

by | Jun 4, 2024 | ALLFFP, Police and Fire, Spotsylvania

A former local private school math teacher was recently charged with two sex crimes involving children.

Daniel Brian Fleming, 31, of Chesapeake will face charges of solicitation of child pornography and use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children when he appears in Spotsylvania Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court July 12.

The investigation began with the Chesapeake Police Department when it received information in January that Fleming was allegedly engaged in criminal activity involving minors. The investigation eventually led to Spotsylvania.

Chesapeake authorities notified Spotsylvania Child Victim Unit detectives who opened a criminal case against Fleming that included allegations of inappropriate contact with a juvenile in 2019.

Fleming was formerly employed at multiple private schools in the Chesapeake area. Spotsylvania Maj. Troy Skebo said he also worked at a “local private church school” in Spotsylvania.

Fleming was also involved in youth ministry.

Detectives are investigating if any individuals, in addition to the current accusers, had inappropriate contact with Fleming. The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office requests that anyone with additional information contacts 582-5822 or 800/928-5822. Tips can also be submitted at spotsylvaniacrimesolvers.org.
