The city’s FY26 general fund budget of $136.9 million represents a 7% increase from last year’s budget, but it’s not a given that the full amount will be spent. Anticipating economic slowdowns both regionally and as a result of federal cuts, the budget features several “hold back” targets totaling $6 million, including $1.5 million in school funding. City council would then monitor economic conditions and could appropriate those funds via a mid-year amendment… The real-estate tax rate of 80 cents per $100 of assessed value is a four-cent bump from what residents paid last year.

Each year, a committee reviews the Code of Student Conduct and other discipline-related policies and regulations in order to ensure compliance with changes in legislation and to consider revisions that may be necessary or appropriate. The Code of Conduct Committee, which includes representatives from each school, reviewed Policy JFC and is recommending edits for the 2025-26 school year.

The Dominion Hills project consists of 7.85 acres. The applicant, Dominion Hills Towns LLC/The Douglas G. Jett Family Heirs, is requesting the rezoning of five parcels on the south side of Lee Hill School Drive from Residential-2 to Residential-8 with proffers for the development of 61 single-family townhomes. If denied, the property owners could develop five single-family detached homes on 1.5 acre lots by right. The planning commission unanimously recommended approval of the project.
