The National Park Service has announced summer hours for the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park.
The park’s summer interpretive program starts June 9 and runs through Aug. 3. Park grounds will be open daily from sunrise to sunset.
The Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center (1013 Lafayette Boulevard) will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Innis House will open daily from 9–11 a.m. Also, 45-minute-long Sunken Road walking tours will be available daily at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tourists should meet at the battle painting outside the visitor center.
Chatham (120 Chatham Lane) will open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Sparking Freedom at Chatham Walking Tour takes place daily at 2 p.m. for 45 minutes. Visitors will meet at the Chatham garden-side entrance.
The Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Investigating Chancellorsville experience will be available daily at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. for 45 minutes. Reading with a Ranger will take place every other Tuesday, starting June 10 at 10 a.m. and will last for 30 minutes. It is recommended for children ages 4-8.
Ellwood, located at 36380 Constitution Highway in Orange County, will be open Fridays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are no daily programs, but staff will be available on demand to conduct “Battle in the Box” discussions of the Overland Campaign and the Battle of the Wilderness.
The Stonewall Jackson Death site, located at 12019 Stonewall Jackson Road in Woodford, will be open Fridays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are no scheduled programs, however, staff and volunteers will be available to discuss the events of Jackson’s death and how he is remembered today.
The Spotsylvania Courthouse Battlefield (9550 West Grant Drive) will host Spotsylvania History Hikes every other Saturday, beginning June 14. The three-mile hikes will last 90 minutes, beginning at 10 a.m. Hikers will meet at the Bloody Angle parking area, which is stop No. 3 on the Spotsylvania battlefield.
