Interstate 95 Northbound and Southbound

Exit 143 (Garrisonville Road) On-Ramp and Off-Ramps

Tuesday – Thursday, 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Ends early Friday morning this week. Mobile lane closures at the interchange on- and off-ramps. Mobile pavement marking.

Interstate 95 Northbound

Exit 110 (Ladysmith)

Tuesday – Thursday, 9 p.m.-5 a.m. Ends early Friday morning this week. Alternating lane closures with police directing traffic for milling and paving between mile markers 110-111.

Exit 118 (Thornburg) to Exit 126 (Spotsylvania)

Tuesday – Thursday, 9 p.m.-4:30 a.m. Ends early Friday morning this week. Alternating lane closures between mile markers 121-123 for milling and paving mobile operation.

Interstate 95 Southbound

Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) to Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton)

Tuesday – Thursday, 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Ends early Friday morning this week. Single lane closure. Mobile pavement marking.

Exit 130 (Route 3) to Exit 118 (Thornburg)

Tuesday – Thursday, 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Ends early Friday morning this week. Single lane closure for pavement marking work between mile markers 129-124.

Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) Off-Ramp

Tuesday – Saturday, 7 p.m.-10 a.m. Alternating single lane closures on the off-ramp to Route 1. Final construction activities to widen the ramp and build an additional right turn lane to Route 1 southbound.

Caroline County

Route 601 (Penola Road)

ROAD CLOSURE. Penola Road will close to through traffic on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and remain closed until Friday at 10 a.m. Road closure at the CSX railroad crossing, located on Penola Road between Route 2 and Clark Patton Boulevard. Follow the posted detour route. CSX railroad maintenance.

City of Fredericksburg

Lafayette Boulevard

Wednesday – Friday, 7 a.m.-2 p.m., except for Friday, when all lanes will reopen by noon. Right lane closure on Lafayette Boulevard between Twin Lake Drive and St. Paul Street. Two travel lanes, with one lane open in each direction, will be maintained by slightly shifting vehicles traveling south into a dual turn lane.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 at Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)

Tuesday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Milling, paving and overhead traffic signal work as part of final construction activities. Expect brief delays. Flaggers will direct drivers through the intersection with Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road.

Route 1 at Arcadia Road

Tuesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. All travel lanes will remain open, but the alignment of the Route 1 travel lanes has shifted slightly between Arcadia Road and Mudd Tavern Road for road improvement work connected with the Kalahari Resorts & Conventions development. Permit work. Construction will also be underway along the road shoulder.

Route 1 at Southpoint Parkway

Tuesday – Thursday, 7 p.m.-10 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m.-6 a.m. Alternating single lane closures on Route 1 between the I-95 southbound off-ramp and Southpoint Parkway. Final construction activities.

Route 2 (Tidewater Trail)

Tuesday – Friday, 9 p.m.-5 a.m. Single lane closure on Route 2 between Benchmark Road and Pierson Drive. Installation of water main under permit.

Route 3

Tuesday, noon-3 p.m. and Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.Traffic signal work will be underway on Route 3 at multiple intersections throughout the week:

Route 3 and Old Plank Road/Five Mile Road Extended

Route 3 and Single Oak Road/Chancellors Village Lane

Route 208 (Courthouse Road)

Tuesday, noon-3 p.m. and Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.Traffic signal work will be underway on Route 208 at the Brittany Commons Boulevard and Breckenridge Drive intersection.

Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road)

Tuesday, noon-3 p.m. and Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Single lane closure between Hickory Hill Drive and Summit Crossing Road with one-way, alternating traffic. Installation of water main under permit.

Route 610 (Old Plank Road)

Tuesday, noon-3 p.m. and Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.Single lane closure between Lewis Thornburg Road and Pullen Drive with one-way, alternating traffic. Installation of a roundabout under permit.

Route 610 (Old Plank Road)

Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Alternating lane closures near Harrison Road intersection, for the widening of Harrison Road to four lanes between Gordon Road and Old Plank Road.

Route 620 (Harrison Road)

Tuesday, noon-3 p.m. and Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Single lane closure between Kingswood Boulevard and Salem Church Road/Leavells Road with one-way, alternating traffic. Installation of water main under permit. Click here for the Spotsylvania County project page.

Route 627 (Gordon Road)

Tuesday, noon-3 p.m. and Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Traffic signal work will be underway on Gordon Road at the intersection with Chancellor Road.

Route 628 (Smith Station Road)

Tuesday – Thursday, 7 p.m.-6 a.m. Road resurfacing between Route 208 and Gordon Road. One-way, alternating traffic.

Route 629 (Foster Road)

Wednesday – Thursday, 7 p.m.-6 a.m. Road resurfacing. One-way, alternating traffic.

Route 690 (Peppertree Lane)

Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Road resurfacing. One-way, alternating traffic.

Route 711 (Southpoint Parkway)

Route 1

Thursday, midnight-5 a.m. Intermittent full traffic stops for up to 15-minute intervals between Telegraph Road and Merryview Court. Utility work under permit.

Route 3 (Kings Highway)

Tuesday, noon-3 p.m. and Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Single lane closures between Route 607 (Cool Springs Road) and Route 3 (Blue and Gray Parkway). Fiber installation under permit.

Route 17 Southbound

Tuesday, noon-3 p.m. and Wednesday – Thursday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Intermittent right lane closures on southbound Route 17 between Village Parkway and Hartwood Church Road to install waterline and sewer line under permit.

Route 218 (Butler Road)

Tuesday – Friday, 7 p.m.-6 a.m. Mobile lane closures between Route 1 and Cool Springs Road for pavement marking.

Route 607 (Cool Springs Road)

Tuesday, noon-3 p.m. and Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Single lane closures between Route 3 Business and Route 218 (White Oak Road). Fiber installation under permit.

Route 1968 (Celebrate Virginia Parkway)

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. Alternating lane closures for pavement work.

Route 1969 (Banks Ford Parkway)

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. Alternating lane closures for pavement work between Celebrate Virginia Parkway and Route 17.

Secondary Road Resurfacing

Tuesday – Wednesday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Road resurfacing. One-way, alternating traffic along the following routes:

Route 1245 (Rose Hill Farm Road)
Route 1246 (Tolson Lane)
Westmoreland County

Route 612 (Antioch Road)

Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Road resurfacing between Route 3 and Nomini Hall Road. A flagging crew will direct one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone.

Route 638 (Ferry Landing Road)

Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Road resurfacing near Route 205. A flagging crew will direct one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone.

Route 785 (Industrial Park Drive)

Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Road resurfacing near Route 3. A flagging crew will direct one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone.

Route 799 (Poorhouse Road)

Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Road resurfacing near Panorama Road. A flagging crew will direct one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone.

Additional Projects in Fredericksburg District

Caroline County

Route 2 (Main Street) Closure in Town of Bowling Green

Main Street in the Town of Bowling Green in Caroline County is closed to through traffic between Chase Street/Milford Street and Courthouse Lane for a town utility project. Main Street will be closed until Monday, June 30, weather permitting. Route 2 travelers should follow the posted detour route using Route 207/Route 301 and East Broaddus Avenue.

Route 638 (South River Road) Bridge Replacement

Construction is underway to replace the Route 638 (South River Road) bridge over South River. A portion of South River Road is closed with a detour in place. The project will be complete by Sept. 2025.

City of Fredericksburg

Route 1 at Fall Hill Avenue, and

Route 1 at Princess Anne Street and Hanson Avenue

Intersection improvement projects are underway on Route 1 at the intersections with Fall Hill Avenue and Princess Anne Street/Hanson Avenue. Construction will be complete by June 2026. Intermittent single lane and shoulder closures will be needed at times, but most lane closures will occur overnight, and outside of peak weekday commute times.

Lafayette Boulevard at Twin Lakes/Kensington

Construction is underway on a $2.4 million bicycle and pedestrian connector project. Most construction will occur on the road shoulders and outside of the travel lanes. The project will be complete by Nov. 2025.

Spotsylvania County

I-95 Southbound Exit 126 Off-Ramp and Route 1 Southbound

A second right turn lane is under construction from the I-95 southbound off-ramp at exit 126 onto Route 1 southbound. Route 1 southbound is being widened from the off-ramp to Southpoint Parkway with an additional turn lane. A second right turn lane is being added from Route 1 southbound to Southpoint Parkway. Traffic islands will be installed along Southpoint Parkway as a safety improvement to allow left turns into driveways but restrict through and left-turning traffic exiting from side streets. Project completion is anticipated in late May 2025.

Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road) Widening

Mudd Tavern Road is being widened to four lanes between I-95 and Route 1. A new secondary access route, Route 2092, is under construction parallel to Mudd Tavern Road and will connect with South Roxbury Mill Road and Dan Bell Lane. Project completion is expected in late May 2025.

Route 620 (Harrison Road) Reconstruction and Widening

Harrison Road is being widened to four lanes between Gordon Road and Old Plank Road. The project will build a center turn lane along Harrison Road and additional through travel lanes at the Old Plank Road and Gordon Road intersections, and extend the current turn lanes at these intersections. Sidewalks will be built along Harrison Road, and pedestrian crossing signal equipment and crosswalks will be added at the Old Plank Road and Gordon Road intersections. Project completion late summer 2026.
