As part of an instructional update, the school board will receive a school-by-school briefing on how the division’s students fared on SOL tests this past school year… Despite $6 million in appropriation holdbacks, the final FY2026 budget as passed by Fredericksburg City Council last week includes a 5% pay increase for all school employees… With the majority of work on the exterior of the new middle school complete, weather is no longer a factor in the construction process, which is reaching its final stages.

Staff members can expect a bonus at the end of July. Superintendent Jesse Boyd is recommending to the school board that the division equally disperses state-provided funds to all full-time and part-time employees who worked at KGCS this past school year and have signed a contract agreeing to return in 2025-26. A one-time bonus of $700 will go to full-time employees, while part-time workers will receive $350 if the board approves.

A public hearing will be held on a potential solar energy facility in the county. Representatives from applicant Davis Hill Development and property owner Yuan-Jen Chaing applied for a Special Exception permit to construct a medium scale solar energy facility on approximately 14 acres zoned Agricultural-2. The property is located at 8209 Daisy Lane.

Stafford County

Board of Supervisors meeting, Tuesday, 5 p.m.

The supervisors are scheduled to finalize their decision last week on a preferred route for a new road and bridge crossing the Rappahannock west of Interstate 95. They also will talk about a proclamation that recognizes June as a month supporting those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities in the county.
