PHOTOS: Freedom thru ramps

Last weekend a team was out near Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania building a ramp for an 83 year old woman who gets around her mobile home with a cane or walker, but very slowly.

The SAWS Facebook page says:

She needed a ramp because she has been homebound and lives alone. Joann uses a walker to get around inside her home but was unable to get down the front steps. She is on a fixed income and has no family nearby to get her to her doctor’s appointments or the grocery. She is getting some in-home services like housekeeping. But her new ramp has restored her access to her community and will allow her to age-in-place in her home where she wants to be.

This gift was sponsored by the Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital Foundations.
