Baron Braswell is making another run for the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors in the Battlefield District.

Braswell announced on his Facebook page that he is “humbled and honored” to declare his candidacy for the seat that he made an unsuccessful bid for in 2021 when he lost to incumbent Chris Yakabouski.

Braswell, a former member and chair of the Spotsylvania School Board, earned 2,772 votes four years ago, while Yakabouski finished with 3,217 and Nick Ignacio placed third with 1,801. Yakabouski is seeking his fourth term on the board.

“It is my sincere desire to bring common-sense solutions to the myriads of challenges facing Spotsylvania County and to work both collaboratively and responsibly with other elected and appointed officials on both boards to solve real problems for our citizens,” Braswell said in his post. “Local governments meet the immediate needs of our citizens and must not become engaged in hyper-political nonsense, which has become both an impediment to getting work done for our citizens and has brought embarrassment to our county nationally.”

Braswell said in the upcoming months he aims to engage with the community on share his vision for the future. He asked constituents to reach out to him at: [email protected].

Early voting begins Sept. 19. The general election will be held Nov. 4.
