The Faith Housing Coalition will hold its annual housing expo on Saturday at James Monroe High School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sharon Glover, founder of the coalition, said there will be 17 vendors on hand, including mortgage lenders, home inspectors, appraisers and real estate agents.
The free event is entering its third year.
“The month of June is recognized as Home Ownership Month, and one thing I try to focus on annually is making sure I’m giving back to the community something dealing with home ownership,” Glover said. “We want to close out Home Ownership Month with an event where people can come and collect information on resources with no pressure.”
Glover’s agency aims to provide affordable housing opportunities to underserved and low-to-moderate income families in the Fredericksburg region through education, counseling and financial assistance services.
While housing is the primary purpose of Saturday’s event, Glover noted there will be other resources on hand as well.
The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank will provide fresh produce for free in the JM parking lot. A representative from the Virginia Cooperative Extension will give a healthy eating demonstration at 11 a.m.
Resources such as the Fredericksburg Department of Social Services, 211 Virginia and Caroline Emergency Relief through Volunteer Efforts (CERVE) will also participate.
“The information that’s being shared is important,” Glover said. “The main outcome I want to continue to see is that this valuable information is getting into the hands of the people that need it.”
