Chris Caldwell, the school division’s supervisor of maintenance, will provide an update on the potential purchase of a modular building to be used as additional instructional space at Bowling Green Elementary School. Capacity issues have been an ongoing topic in the school division for the past several months. BGE is also slated to add four to six classrooms and a gymnasium after the board of supervisors pushed for and approved the additions.

The service authority and the board are expected to act on a resolution for a $4 million bond for improvements to various water and wastewater systems in the county. The funds are for projects, including, but not limited to the Dahlgren Wastewater Treatment Plan.

The board will vote on first reading of an update to policy BHB which regulates board members’ professional learning activities. The current policy was reviewed and revised following a May 19 work session. Policy updates include required training on the Freedom of Information Act and the State and Local Government Conflict of Interests Act. If the updates are passed, both trainings must be completed within two months of board members taking office and once every two years afterward. Other updates to the policy include a requirement that all board members attend the annual Virginia School Board Association conference.

Main Street Spotsylvania, a Delaware-based company, is applying to rezone 3.44 acres from Commercial-3 to Mixed Use-4 with proffers for the development of 50 multifamily apartment units and 15,000 square feet of non-residential commercial uses. The project includes one existing parcel on the east side of Hospital Boulevard, adjacent to Station Square apartments and the Sheetz convenience store and gas station.
