–Two Spotsylvania County residents face misdemeanor charges after an incident last month on Partlow Road in which a Black couple from Richmond was attacked seemingly just because of their race. The attack has drawn the attention of the county’s NAACP branch and other social justice activists. and the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office said more charges could be forthcoming, reports Taft Coghill Jr.
-Voters in Spotsylvania County’s Lee Hill District will choose from among three candidates for school board in November, and all of them have made special needs students a key part of their platforms, Coghill writes.
-Want to live on the lake? A 16-home lakefront subdivision called The Reserve at Jett Pointe is being proposed on Lake Anna in Spotsylvania County. Bill Freehling has more about the project in Biz Beat Roundup.
-Fredericksburg officials cut the ribbon on the new Walker-Grant Middle School in the Idlewild subdivision last week, and a descendant of the school’s partial namesake, Joseph Walker, was there for the event, Joey LoMonaco reports.
-Brandon Boles, formerly principal of Potomac High School in Prince William County, was recently named the new CEO of the Rappahannock Area YMCA, overseeing branches in Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George and Caroline counties. Coghill has the details.
