Route 620 (Harrison Road) in Spotsylvania County will close to through traffic overnight between Route 627 (Gordon Road) and Route 610 (Old Plank Road) for two consecutive evenings this week.
The road will be closed from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, and from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday.
Travelers and emergency responders can access homes along Harrison Road between Gordon Road and Old Plank Road and on Route 1196 (Stansbury Drive) during the overnight closure. Residential traffic should access Harrison from the Gordon intersection during the overnight road closures. No access will be available from the Old Plank intersection.
All through traffic on Harrison will be detoured to use Gordon and Old Plank. Old Plank will remain open at the Harrison intersection.
Construction crews will install a water line across Harrison near the Old Plank intersection. This work is required as part of an ongoing Virginia Department of Transportation project to widen Harrison to four lanes between Gordon and Old Plank.
Construction on the widening project began in September 2024 and will be complete in late summer 2026.
The $11.2 million project includes building a center turn lane along Harrison and additional through travel lanes at the Old Plank and Gordon intersections. The current turn lanes at these intersections will also be extended.
Sidewalks will be built along Harrison and pedestrian crossing signal equipment, and crosswalks will be added at the Old Plank and Gordon intersections.
Updates on lane closures in this work zone are available at 511Virginia.
