King George County

Board of supervisors and service authority board of directors meeting, Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.

King George is entering into a contract with Richard Stuart as its county attorney. Stuart has served as interim county attorney since 2024. Stuart’s contract will pay him $150,000 per year as well as $300 per hour for all trial work. Stuart is also a Republican state senator, representing the 25th District, which includes King George and Caroline counties.

Wednesday, Sept. 3, 5:30 p.m. in the Sealy Auditorium, Germanna Community College Fredericksburg Campus; 10000 Germanna Point Drive.

Hear from candidates for board of supervisors and school board elections. Lee Hill District begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by Berkeley District at 6:30 p.m. and Battlefield District at 7:30 p.m. Times are an estimate and subject to change.

The supervisors have a fairly light agenda this week. They will, however, talk about instituting zoning protections for Sherwood Forest Farm, which is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally part of a 1,600-acre land grant in 1667, Sherwood Forest is an important Rappahannock River estate with architectural and historical significance, county documents say.
