The Stafford School Board picked names for the county’s two newest elementary schools: Falls Run Elementary and Crow’s Nest Elementary.
The schools are scheduled to open for the 2026-2027 school year.
Along with their names, the board also approved each school’s mascot and colors. Falls Run will be known as the Foxhounds, with purple, gold and navy representing their school pride. Crow’s Nest will be known as the Blue Jays, with colors turquoise, navy and lime.
Earlier this year, the school division announced that Karen Bingham will serve as the founding principal of Falls Run, while William “JR” Raybold will lead Crow’s Nest.
“Naming a school is about creating a place where children can see themselves and feel a part of something larger,” School Board Chair Maureen Siegmund said in an announcement about the new schools. “These names, mascots and colors will help set the stage for welcoming communities where students can grow and thrive.”
Construction on both schools is progressing steadily, the division said in the announcement. The facilities have been designed to balance efficiency with flexibility, offering spaces that nurture inspiration and student growth. When the doors open in August 2026, the schools will also add capacity for students across the county.
“As Stafford continues to grow, these schools reflect our commitment to balancing capacity with quality,” Stafford Superintendent Daniel Smith said in the announcement. “They will ensure students have the space, resources and environment needed to succeed.”
Families will see more updates in the months ahead as school identities take shape, including the introduction of spirit wear, athletic branding and events to officially welcome each mascot.
