Fredericksburg City Public Schoolsposted resumes and letters of interest for four applicants to the vacant Ward 3 school board seat.
Keon Toyer, Elizabeth Rehm, Caitlin Finlayson, and Christopher Butz applied prior to the Sept. 15 deadline. The school board scheduled a special meeting at 5 p.m. on Sept. 22 to receive public input and make an appointment.
The chosen candidate will likely take office during the Oct. 6 regular school board meeting and will serve through Dec. 31.
The vacancy was created when Jen Boyd, who had served as the Ward 3 representative for the past nine years, stepped down earlier this month. Boyd, who had been preparing to move for some time, is no longer living in Ward 3.
The Ward 3 seat is up for grabs in November’s election, with Sarah Stelmok and Annie Langdon vying to fill it. School board members said they wouldn’t support either candidate for the interim appointment.
