At a special meeting last month, the school board reached a consensus that Elizabeth Rehm, a former Ward 1 school board rep, was the best fit for the Ward 3 interim appointment, citing both her experience and the relatively short duration of the appointment. Rehm will serve from Monday through Dec. 31.

Planning Commission meeting, Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.

The planning commission will hold three public hearings during Wednesday’s meeting. The first concerns the modification of special-use permit for a coffee shop drive-thru on a 1.14-acre portion of the Cowan Station development off U.S. Route 1… The commission will continue the process of updating the city’s Unified Development Ordinance and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Overlay District to reflect legislation passed by the General Assembly in recent years.

School board meeting, Monday, 5:30 p.m.

  • Technology Advisory Committee annual report

The Technology Advisory Committee will present its annual report at this meeting. The committee includes a school board member, administrator, building technician, network engineer, instructional department representative, student representative, teachers from all levels, parents and community members. It will share current priorities and progress, reflect on highlights and challenges and discuss next steps and future focus areas.

Board of supervisors and service authority board of directors meeting, Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.

The board will take action on a special exception permit for Daisy Solar, a medium-scale solar energy facility. The property is owned by Yuan-Jen Chaing. Chaing and representatives from Davis Hill Development submitted the application for the project on Aug. 19, 2024. The county’s planning commission recommended approval of the project. The board held a public hearing on June 3 and is set to rule on the matter during this meeting.

Stafford County

Board of Supervisors meeting, Wednesday, 5 p.m.

The supervisors approved the county budget for this fiscal year with the intention of asking the jail board to reduce its request for funding, but the jail board didn’t oblige. As a result, the supervisors will need to reallocate nearly $2 million from other projects to pay their share of jail costs.
