The Old Dominion Humane Society helped remove more than 100 dogs from what authorities described as hazardous and severely unsanitary conditions during one of the largest animal rescue operations ever conducted by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
ODHS volunteers traveled to Henry County and transported over 40 of the dogs to Fredericksburg, including pregnant mothers, nursing dogs, and animals in critical need of food and medical care. ODHS founder Chrissy Hamilton said the dogs arrived severely neglected, and staff and foster families immediately mobilized to provide assessments, clean kennels, and emergency support.
ODHS fosters are already caring for vulnerable litters, including one mother dog whose newborns—and an accidentally mixed-in pup—are now getting the care they were previously denied.
