Determination. There’s always determination in the faces of volunteers at the Rappahannock Education Farm in White Oak — but never more than on Monday, when bitter cold (wind chills in the 20’s) and muddy fields greeted the 20 volunteers.

Even in those conditions, Rich Larochelle reports the team pulled in more than 1,000 pounds of produce, including 378 pounds of cabbage along with collards, kale, and radishes. Monday’s harvest went to food pantries at five local churches.

So far this year, the farm has supplied 36,750 pounds of fresh vegetables to help reduce hunger and food insecurity across the region. To learn about volunteering, email rappahannockeducationfarm@gmail.com or text 703-606-0446.
