The Virginia Department of Transportation will close a portion of Route 644 (Rock Hill Church Road) at Aquia Creek in Stafford County from 9 a.m. Wednesday through the morning of Dec. 22 for the removal of several trees.
The work is being done in preparation for the Rock Hill Church Road bridge replacement project, scheduled to begin next summer.
Rock Hill Church Road will be closed to through traffic between Dunbar Drive and Van Horn Lane. During the closure, motorists will be detoured along the following routes:
- Route 644 (Rock Hill Church Road)
- Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
- Route 643 (Joshua Road)
- Route 627 (Mountain View Road)
Rock Hill Church Road carries an average of 1,600 vehicles a day, according to the most recent traffic count, from last year.
Message boards will be posted to notify travelers of the scheduled detour dates.
