Volunteers wanted for Continuum of Care’s winter Point in Time Count

by | Jan 5, 2026 | ALLFFP, Health care, Housing, Region

Each year the Fredericksburg Regional Continuum of Care conducts a Point-in-Time count of all persons experiencing homelessness in our region. The Continuum of Care is made up of organizations and individuals that work together to develop long and short-term strategic plans to ending homelessness in the area. The organization brings community partners together to discuss trends in homelessness and to design a system to provide needed services.

With the help of volunteers, this local planning body works to find all people in the region experiencing homelessness, both sheltered and unsheltered, on a given night in January. This data is used to understand the agency’s progress toward ending homelessness in the region as well as to inform decision-making throughout the year.

This year’s point-in-time count will be held on Thurs., Jan. 29, and is in need of volunteers to assist with administering surveys in the field. All volunteers will receive training on how to complete the surveys and no experience is required. Volunteers must be 18 years or older to participate.

The CoC is led and staffed by the George Washington Regional Commission and serves the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford.

To participate, complete the volunteer sign-up form. For any questions about the 2026 Winter PIT Count, contact Megan Samples at megan.samples@gwregion.org
