  • The owner of Curio Wine Bar in Downtown Fredericksburg has leased the commercial space at 205 William St., which is just down from Curio’s current location at 209 William St. The two buildings share a courtyard at the rear of the buildings. Wild Hare Cider had been located at 205 William St. but recently closed. Curio owner Johnny Puckett said in a text message that he is in the “early planning phase for a food-forward hospitality concept” at 205 William St. that complements Curio. “Our goal is to create something thoughtful and community-oriented for downtown Fredericksburg.”
  • Jamaican restaurant Trelawny Infusion will open its second area location at 1108-1110 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg (formerly home to Pimenta) following a renovation, said leasing broker Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite. Trelawny’s other area location is at 100 Randolph Road in Stafford County’s Ferry Farm area.
  • A restaurant called Elephant’s Nest Thai & Sushi Bar is expected to open soon at the Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre next to X-Golf Fredericksburg.
  • Element Contrast Studio in Downtown Fredericksburg, which offers sauna and cold-plunge therapy, is the subject of this week’s Biz Beat Clips video.
  • Callahan Learning Center, a locally owned childcare provider, this week opened its newest area location at 628 Cambridge St. in Stafford. The facility will serve children 6 weeks through school-age. Callahan also has facilities in Spotsylvania and Locust Grove. Company founder Tom Callahan was a recent guest on the Biz Beat Banter podcast.
  • A Ledo Pizza location recently opened at 915 Wonder Road in Stafford’s Embrey Mill Town Center.
  • The Silly Goose Imagination Village, an indoor play space for kids, recently opened at 50 North Stafford Complex Center off Garrisonville Road in North Stafford.
  • Edge Express Car Wash locations recently opened at 200 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford, and 50 Murphy Way in South Stafford.
  • The McDonald’s location at 3102 Plank Road in front of the Spotsylvania Towne Centre is closed indefinitely.
  • Magic Bullet Skate Shop has relocated to 1101 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg.
  • The Home Deco store at 2368 Plank Road in Fredericksburg is closing.
  • The new Uptown Cheapskate thrift store next to Wegmans in Fredericksburg is now buying people’s used clothes as it gears up for a grand opening in February or March.
  • A new restaurant called Big Bad W BBQ is planned inside the building at 3987 Richmond Highway in North Stafford that was formerly home to The Globe And Laurel restaurant.
  • Physical therapist Fusion Rehab and Wellness plans to open a new location at 7947 Kings Highway in King George County on Feb. 2. The practice has multiple additional locations in the region.

  • The wellness center at the Massad branch of the local YMCA now features new equipment and a spruced-up look.

  • The guest on this week’s edition of the Biz Beat Banter podcast is Karen Moschetto, longtime head of school at Fredericksburg Academy.
  • The City of Fredericksburg recently announced that it has completed restoration work on the historic Renwick Complex in Downtown Fredericksburg. The work included interior structural framing repairs, masonry repointing, stucco and architectural stone repairs.
  • The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce is planning a free “Intern Expo” Feb. 11 at the Fredericksburg Convention Center to connect local businesses with potential intern candidates. The Chamber is seeking businesses interested in participating as vendors.

  • The Lester Group recently sold the 28,000-square-foot Mill Race Commons office building at 701 Kenmore Ave. in Fredericksburg for $3.75 million, according to broker Johnson Realty Advisors. The buyer was locally based AHAFL LLC, according to the Fredericksburg monthly deed transfer report.
  • There were 99 homes sold in the past two weeks in the Fredericksburg area, including one for $1.56 million in Fawn Lake, according to the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtors’ weekly sales list. Check back weekly for the new list.
  • Local real estate professional Jamie Scully (via Howard Ave LLC) recently purchased the properties at 1500 Howard Ave. and 1600 Howard Ave. in Fredericksburg’s Mayfield area for $2.25 million. The properties are available for lease. Scully is also a partner in the adjacent 9.2-acre property at 400-412 Howison Ave.
  • The 1,632-square-foot office building at 2304 Emancipation Highway in Fredericksburg recently sold for $320,000, according to selling broker Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer. 107-109 Fleming LLC bought the building from Dodson Enterprises LLC as an investment. The building is being used as a State Farm insurance office.
  • Children’s Clinic of Fredericksburg has leased 1,836 square feet of office space at 4520 Plank Road, Suite 104, in Spotsylvania from Redwood Realty LLC, according to leasing broker Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite. That represents an expansion for the business at the center.
  • La Granja Investment LLC recently purchased the 5,280-square-foot office building at 3916 Plank Road in Spotsylvania from Ana
    Marie Coleman and William P. Coleman (Co-Trustees of the Coleman Wealth Trust) for $1.5 million, according to leasing broker Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite.
  • Joshua Ira Helmuth recently purchased a 1.5-acre commercial lot near the entrance of the Gateway Business Center off U.S. 1 in Spotsylvania from Tricord Inc. for $495,000, according to leasing broker Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite.

  • Delk Properties recently sold the 3,000-square-foot medical-office space at 411-B Park Hill Ave. in Fredericksburg for $1.2 million, according to broker Johnson Realty Advisors. The buyer was not disclosed.
  • Hairfield Limited Partnership recently sold a 152-acre tract in the Lake Anna area of Spotsylvania for $3.175 million to Lonnie Carter, according to broker Johnson Realty Advisors. A mixed-use development is planned, according to Lake Anna Life.
