VDOT is operating at maximum capacity across the 14-county Fredericksburg District, with more than 1,200 pieces of equipment ready to treat and clear over 12,000 state-maintained lane miles. Crews have begun pre-storm operations, and storage facilities are fully stocked with salt, sand, and treatment materials.
VDOT crews will work 24 hours a day in 12-hour rotating shifts, starting before the storm and continuing until roads are safe. Tree and debris removal contractors are on standby to clear fallen trees, blocked roads, and other hazards.
VDOT strongly urges drivers to stay off the roads during the storm and immediately afterward. Motorists should plan now to arrive at their destinations before conditions worsen or delay

travel until road conditions improve.
With cold temperatures expected to linger, VDOT says road clearing will be a multi-day effort extending into next week.
