The board will conduct a public hearing on Powhatan Road Solar Farm. Project representatives and property owner Larry Carr Jr. applied for a special exception permit to construct a medium scale solar energy facility on approximately 24 acres currently zoned Agricultural. The proposed project is located at 8375 Powhatan Road.

The purpose of the comprehensive plan update work session is to focus on specific updates to the document which guides vision of county officials. The session on Wednesday will hone in on revisions to Chapter 3 of the plan, Transportation. Chapter 3A will also be a focus. That chapter is specifically about the Trailways Master Plan. Planned updates were previously vetted with the Transportation Committee over the course of many meetings.

The board of supervisors will vote on a resolution to petition Spotsylvania Circuit Court to conduct a special election for the commissioner of the revenue position. Deborah Williams, who served in the role for 30 years, died last week at age 74. The board will also hear a presentation on the school board’s approved budget, which has a $5.8 million shortfall from County Administrator Ed Petrovich’s proposal.

One of the biggest news stories in local government annually is the budget for the next fiscal year. Stafford County Administrator Bill Ashton presents his spending plan for the county Tuesday. Before that, though, Commissioner of the Revenue Scott Mayausky will present the county’s reassessment of taxable real estate. The total value of all the real estate in Stafford has gone up 10% since the last reassessment in 2024.
