Eagles make quick work of Lancers to advance to NCAA second round

The University of Mary Washington men’s basketball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament with an 86-55 victory over visiting Worcester State (Massachusetts) Friday evening at Ron Rosner Arena.

Ten players scored for the Eagles, including three in double figures, led by Kye Robinson’s 23 points. Jay Randall and Jadon Burgess added 14 and 10 points, respectively. Kaden Bates contributed eight points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Eagles (25-3), who will host Amherst College, a 63-46 winner over Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in the early game Friday at UMW.

The Eagles and Amherst will tip off Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at UMW with a trip to the Sweet 16 at stake.
