VDOT’s Darragh Frye says lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. Thursday between the Route 218/Route 17 Business intersection in Stafford County and the Hanson Avenue and Princess Anne Street intersection in Fredericksburg.
Between midnight and 6 a.m., traffic will be stopped in 15-minute intervals so crews can safely remove the signs, though emergency vehicles will still be allowed through.
Frye says the work is part of a $1.6 million project designed to improve safety and pedestrian access at the Route 1, Hanson Avenue and Princess Anne Street intersection. If needed, the same overnight schedule will continue Friday night.
