Clifford Mark Mummau, age 66, passed away March 16, 2026, at Camp Solitude in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. He was born November 24, 1959, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was the eldest son of Mark Tyson Mummau and Fannie Malinda Flory Mummau and grew up in Madison County, Virginia.
Clifford was a professional long-distance truck driver for over 22 years and traveled all 48 of the lower states and parts of Canada. He took pride in the fact that he was an accident-free driver for those 22 years. Though trucking was his profession, his true love was farming and spending time on his Sweet Virginia Farm in Amherst County. He spent the last 6 years making hay on his farm and surrounding farms to sell to those with livestock. On rainy days or winter days, he provided ride services via Uber and Lyft. He also worked for Roger Miller Auctions on an as needed basis over the years.
He is survived by the love of his life the past 11 years, Nenita Obispo Gob, who resides in the Philippines. Clifford just returned from a 30-day visit with her in the Philippines where they purchased a home which was to be their retirement home in Cabuyao City Laguna. Clifford had already purchased a plane ticket to return in May of 2026 to move into their new home.
In addition to his mother of Rochelle, VA, he is also survived by his son, Keith Mark Carpenter (Erin); his granddaughters, Lyla, Olivia, and Charlotte Carpenter; his brother, Dr. Chester Mummau (Priscilla) of Locust Grove, VA; his sister, Crystal Nulty (Jim) of Raleigh, NC; brother, Curtis Mummau (Bernardine Cde Baca) of Placitas, NM; nephews, Andrew Mummau (Allyssa) of Locust Grove, VA, Thomas Nulty, and Chase Mummau both of Cookeville, TN; nieces, April Ford (Phillip) of Daleville, VA, Amy Da Silva (Chad) of Williamsburg, VA, and Kim Sherouse (Kurt) of Flomaton, AL; and great nephews and nieces, Ana Clara Da Silva, Emerson Ford, Garrett Ford, Levi Mummau, Jessica Sherouse, and Katelyn Sherouse.
The family would like to thank Clifford’s high school friends, truck driver friends, and farmer friends for their support of him and his endeavors over the years. He sometimes needed a listening ear and you accommodated him. Thank you.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 in Laurel Hill Memorial Park, 10127 Plank Road (Route 3), Spotsylvania, VA, with Pastor Chaz Campbell officiating. Fittingly, Clifford’s burial site is adjacent to a hay field. A light meal will be provided following the service; the location will be provided at the service.
Memorial gifts may be made in his name to a scholarship program at his alma mater via the Post Oak Education & Charitable Foundation, Inc. at PO Box 752, Locust Grove, VA 22508, the American Diabetes Association, or a charity of your choice.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg is handling the arrangements.
