Mountain View High School stages musical with unique history

by | Mar 18, 2026 | Arts & Features, Free Time, Stafford

This spring, students across Stafford County Public Schools will take the stage for a season of musical and theatrical productions showcasing the creativity, talent, and dedication of middle and high school performers and technical crews. From beloved classics to innovative contemporary works, these productions give students opportunities to develop skills in acting, singing, dancing, stage design, lighting, and technical theatre while collaborating with peers to bring stories to life.

A highlight of this year’s season is Mountain View High School’s production of “The Clockmaker’s Daughter”. This production has been described as “a new musical,” due to the show’s unique history. Originally introduced in 2015, the musical gained attention through a concept album but never received a full professional stage production due to shifting theatre trends and later disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. With a professional United Kingdom tour scheduled to debut later this year, Mountain View’s production is among the final school performances licensed before the show’s professional run. No Virginia public high school has ever officially licensed it. In preparation, students have connected with performers from the original concept album and they have responded with encouragement for the production.

Families, friends, and community members are encouraged to attend and support Stafford’s student performers. Performance times and ticket information are available on each school’s website.
