The body of a missing Henrico County man was found by Caroline County Sheriff’s Office investigators Tuesday.
The remains of Jayden McComber, 18, was recovered during a search of a pond near the border of Caroline and King and Queen counties.
McComber was reported missing on March 27. His family has been notified and has been working closely with investigators throughout the process.
According to a release from the Caroline Sheriff’s Office, the discovery is a result of around-the-clock efforts by investigators who followed leads and coordinated with partner agencies.
Based on evidence gathered thus far, investigators believe the case is connected to the discovery of another body found along Bagby Road this past weekend. Investigators are still working to identify that individual in coordination with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The investigation remains active and ongoing and the release from the sheriff’s office noted that investigators are confident the responsible parties will be identified and held accountable. Investigators do not believe the incidents were random acts.
“I am extremely proud of the work of our investigators,” Sheriff Scott Moser said. “They have worked around the clock under very difficult circumstances, following leads and piecing together critical information that led to today’s development. While this is a tragic situation, we are making significant progress and remain confident that those responsible will be brought to justice. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jayden McComber’s family during this incredibly difficult time.”
The sheriff’s office stated that no additional information will be released until there are further developments.
