Caroline County

School board town hall, Tuesday and Thursday 6-7 p.m.

  • Tuesday at Lewis & Clark Elementary
  • Thursday at Bowling Green Elementary
  • Discussions on school capacity needs

Get the memo

School board member Calvin Taylor initially planned to have a town hall alongside Supervisor Floyd Thomas to discuss future school capacity needs. However, that plan was scrapped and the school board decided to have its own town halls. Bowling Green Elementary and Lewis & Clark Elementary each face capacity concerns. Trailers were installed at BGE earlier this school year; the school division is pondering the same for Lewis & Clark.

Spotsylvania County

Board of supervisors work session Tuesday, 5 p.m.

  • Budget work session

Get the memo

The supervisors held a public hearing on the FY27 budget on March 26 at Courtland High School. The board heard from many residents who expressed concern that rising tax rates could force them out of the county. The board voted to advertise a real estate tax rate of 77 cents per $100 of assessed value, which amounts to an eight-cent increase. The board will weigh residents’ concerns as well as the needs of the county’s various departments and the school division when making a final budget decision.

Stafford County

Board of supervisors regular meeting/special called meeting. Tuesday, 5/7 p.m.

Get the memo

The supervisors have a fairly light agenda at their regular meeting, but the special called meeting after that should be fairly lively, as they take public comment on the budget for the next fiscal year and tax rates.

Planning commission meeting, Wednesday, 6 p.m.

Get the memo

The commission looks to have a pretty short meeting, with only one public hearing, on a dog kennel planned for Red Fox Lane in the Rock Hill District.
