False water advisory reported in Stafford

by | Jun 4, 2025 | Government, Stafford, Ted Schubel

Stafford officials say there is no water advisory. It’s a false notice. Residents are advised to disregard these fraudulent notices.

The fake notices have been reported in the north Stafford area. During water incidents, Stafford County Utilities communicates with the public thru press releases, social media posts and website posts. If an event involves small numbers of customers, door hangers are deployed with Stafford County’s logo displayed prominently, as well as the Utilities Customer Service number.

Stafford officials say they take the posting of fake water advisories seriously. Residents who receive the notices are asked to call the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at (540) 658-4400 to report the incident. The Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating.
