A 19-year-old Fredericksburg man is dead and two juveniles are in custody after a shooting Tuesday night in southern Stafford, the county sheriff’s office said Wednesday.
About 10:56 p.m., deputies responded to the England Run Apartments subdivision for multiple reports of a shooting.
When they arrived, they found a victim with apparent gunshot wounds. The first authorities on the scene, 1st Sgt. M.L. Jacobeen, Deputy M.A. Holub and Deputy S.M. Kotter, began rendering aid to the victim until medical staff could arrive.
Despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Stafford Sheriff’s Office didn’t release the victim’s name, but several social media reports said it was Brian Riley of Fredericksburg.
Detectives worked through the night and early morning hours collecting evidence and talking with witnesses. As a result of the investigation, the sheriff’s office said, it was determined two shooters were involved, and that this was not a random act of violence.
Wednesday afternoon, two juvenile suspects were arrested and charged in connection with the killing. The investigation was continuing Wednesday evening.
