A 32-year-old Stafford woman has been charged with second-degree murder after a shooting in southern Stafford, the county sheriff’s office said.

On Saturday about 12:40 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a person shot.

“The caller advised she ‘thinks’ she had shot and killed her ex-boyfriend,” sheriff’s spokesman Ryan Wilbur wrote in a news release.

The caller also said she was at the parking lot of the Giant at 550 Celebrate Virginia Parkway, awaiting deputies. The shooting occurred at a home on Rocky Run Road, Wilbur wrote.

Deputies responded to the location of the caller and the home in question. At the residence, deputies located a 31-year-old man with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Simultaneously, deputies detained the caller, who had a gun believed to have been used in the incident, Wilbur wrote.

An investigation revealed the shooting was domestic-related, he wrote. The caller, identified as Ashlynn Blair, was charged with second-degree murder as well as use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Out of respect for the victim’s family, Wilbur wrote, the victim’s name was not released.
