The school board’s July meeting featured an uncharacteristically-heated debate about a new policy governing travel for professional development, and on Monday, chair Matt Rowe will propose scheduling “in the near future” a series of work sessions geared toward addressing a wider range of policies and procedures… The board will also discuss the potential for a division-wide organizational audit. The audit process, which could take longer than a year, would involve an outside entity examining FCPS’s organizational structure and operations… The board will also preview upcoming ribbon cuttings for the new Walker-Grant Middle School and renovated Gladys West Elementary School.

As a part of the 2025-26 Rural Work Plan, transportation planners from Planning District 16 are assisting King George by developing one application for Smart Scale, Round 7. County staff worked with the planning district to identify possible projects to recommend to the board of supervisors. Improvements at the intersection of U.S. Route 301 and Owens Drive is the only project that meets the criteria for Smart Scale. So, county staff is recommending the board authorizing them to work with the Virginia Department of Transportation and the George Washington Regional Commission on the application for 2026.
