This lecture explores new research reshaping the story of Eliza Monroe Hay, daughter of President James Monroe, through discoveries on both sides of the Atlantic, and details ongoing efforts- led by Barbara VornDick- to repatriate her remains from an unmarked grave in Paris’s Père LaChaise Cemetery, to the Monroe family plot at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia.
