Retired U.S. Marine Tai Mamea of Spotsylvania was honored with the 2025 Spirit of Hope Award during a ceremony at the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes. The award, named for entertainer Bob Hope, recognizes individuals whose service reflects the values of duty, honor, courage, loyalty, commitment, and selfless dedication to the military.
Mamea was nominated by the U.S. Marine Corps for his ongoing work supporting veterans, mentoring young service members, and serving military families in need. Last year, he volunteered 670+ hours with six civic organizations.
Known in his community for quiet leadership and compassion, Mamea has been a powerful force for good long after hanging up his uniform.
