After hearing about the re-formed Patawomeck Tribe while volunteering at the downtown branch of the Rappahannock Regional Library, ex-cop John Lightner applied, enrolled and ultimately rose through the ranks to become tribal chief.
In this bonus episode, hear about how Lightner and his wife, Minnie, helped to transform the Tribe from a small organization with just $1,200 in the bank into a sustainable nonprofit, more than tripling its membership in the process. He also relates a cautionary tale about discipline back in White Oak.
The Tribe was named a finalist for the INN Insight Award for explanatory journalism.
