Virginia drivers will see highly visible changes to vehicle safety inspection stickers as the state moves into 2026, part of ongoing efforts by Virginia State Police to deter counterfeiting.
Vehicles that pass inspection will receive a blue 2026 sticker, continuing last year’s redesign that added smaller stickers, a holographic state seal, a dogwood image, and QR codes. A major change affects rejection stickers, which will switch from pink to white and adhere much more securely, requiring removal once a vehicle passes inspection.
In addition, motorcycles and trailers will now use a single orange inspection sticker that clearly displays the expiration year. Looking ahead, inspection stickers will remain blue in 2027, followed by red in 2028 and yellow in 2029.
