The Stafford County Board of Supervisors has rescheduled a public listening session on what was formerly called the North Anna-Kraken Loop electric transmission project.

The meeting, originally scheduled for January, was canceled due to winter Storm Fern. It will now be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 5 at Colonial Forge High School, 550 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554.

This session aims to provide residents with clear information on the regulatory process and to hear directly from the community about concerns related to the project’s potential impacts in Stafford. The proposal is now being called the North Anna to Bristers project.

The evening of March 5 will begin with a presentation in the school auditorium. It will be held twice to give the public flexibility to attend: first at 6:30, and then at 8 p.m.

After the presentation, residents are invited to visit interactive stations in the cafeteria, organized by the proposed transmission-line segments within the county. Large-scale maps will be on display to help attendees identify areas of interest and understand how the proposed project may affect their communities.

While the overall project includes seven segments, this session will focus on the five in Stafford. At each station, county representatives will collect public feedback. This input will be documented and used to inform future county strategies and communications related to the project.

Dominion Energy, which has proposed the line, will not be present, but the county government looks forward to continuing to work with the utility company to ensure the project minimizes adverse impacts to residents as much as possible, an announcement of the meeting said. Dominion plans to continue to hold separate meetings as part of its own outreach.

The utility will conduct a second round of community meetings in the second quarter of this year with an expected application submission to the State Corporation Commission in the third quarter.
