Bloomia, one of the nation’s largest premier tulip growers, launches its inaugural Tulip Festival next week. For three weekends, April 3-4, April 11-12 and April 18-19, visitors are encouraged to visit Bloomia’s flower farm to witness one million tulips in bloom over seven acres.

The festival is being billed as an “immersive, family-friendly spring experience in the great outdoors.” Attendees can wander through rows of tulips, pick their own fresh bouquets, and capture social-media worthy photos against the backdrop of the massive floral fields.
“We have been growing tulips in our greenhouse facility in Virginia for years, but there is something truly magical about seeing a million of them in bloom all at once, much like in the Netherlands where I grew up.” says Werner Jansen, CEO at Bloomia. “We wanted to create an event that celebrates the arrival of spring and allows our community to experience the beauty of the farm firsthand.”
Bloomia set up shop in King George because it was an ideal place for growing tulip due to the rich soil and abundance of light. “The field we planted these (bulbs) in was previously fallow,” said Bill Prescott, sales manager, “and the soil was just amazing for tulips”
The Bloomia Tulip Festival highlights include:
- Pick-your-own fields: Guests can select and harvest their favorite tulip varieties to take home.
- Immersive photo ops: Specially designed installations and panoramic views across the one-million-tulip landscape.
- Food & drink: Local food trucks will be on site, alongside a beer and wine garden for guests 21+.
- Live entertainment: Performances by local musicians throughout the day.
- Workshops: Floral design classes led by floral designer Kelly Shore of Petals by the Shore, who will show guests how to arrange their freshly picked tulips.
