King George County Public Schools announced the hiring of Dani Rule as the division’s new deputy superintendent on Tuesday. Rule’s hiring was approved at Monday night’s school board meeting. He will serve under Superintendent Jesse Boyd, beginning July 1.

Rule spent the previous 20 years working in Lynchburg City Public Schools, including the past three as principal of E.C. Glass High School. He served 14 years in school administration.

“He brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to our division,” a statement from the KGCPS read.

Throughout Rule’s career, he served as an elementary school teacher, and principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

After he announced his resignation from E.C. Glass on March 31, parents started a petition to bring him back.

More than 3,700 signed the petition, which requested the Lynchburg School Board reevaluate an administrative decision that led to his resignation; provide transparency around why the decision was made; prioritize the stability and well-being of students and staff; and to reinstate Rule as principal. The petition did not indicate exactly what led to his resignation.
