Several roads will be closed in Fredericksburg Saturday for the Semper Fred 5k and Sunday for the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon.
The Semper Fred 5k will have the exact same road closures or road detours encountered during the Turkey Trot race in November.
Washington Avenue, Mary Ball Street, Kenmore Avenue, Grove Avenue, Little Page Street, Madison Street, Franklin Street, Fitzhugh Street, Sunken Road, Monroe Street, William Street, Charles Street and Fall Hill Avenue are the roads that the race will impact.
All roadways will be fully open by 9 a.m. Washington Avenue will be closed from Fall Hill Avenue to Bunker Hill Street from 12-9 a.m. on Saturday. City officials encourage motorists to review the race map and plan ahead for the expected Saturday road closures.
On Sunday, the 13.1-mile Historic Half will wind through portions of Central Park, Cowan Boulevard, Hospital Hill and the Historic Downtown areas. Events begin at 6 a.m. with street closures and parking restrictions affecting residents throughout the Fredericksburg area from 4-11 a.m., depending on the location. City officials encourage motorists to review the race map and plan ahead for the expected Sunday road closures.
